It's past the middle of February and most are more than tired of the winter.
This will be the last set of Winter pictures...I hope you will enjoy them.
In winter it seems the world is filled with subdued colors,
it makes the brightly painted barns stand out.
On a very cold afternoon I found the light nearly perfect.
The drive led at last to one of my favorite photo locales, St John's United Church of Christ,
north of Woodland, IN
I loved the way the morning light played on these cornstalks.
In a snowy world, a white barn doesn't stand out much.
Yet I could not pass this well maintained structure without shooting several frames.
I have been working with this type of composition lately,
mixing foreground elements with a barn in the background.
A walk along the creek, and an eye searching for the unusual.
Any that know Plymouth will find this image familiar.
The cross glows every night on the front window of the
Plymouth Church of the Brethren, North Michigan Street.
Treading through the snow were traces that I was not the only traveler.
Cold crisp air, clear blue sky, and pure white snow, set off the edge of our woods.
When I photograph architecture, sometimes less is enough.
A round window of St. John's UCC.
Look carefully and you can see the banister of a stairway
through the frosted glass.
So I close this seasons collection with the stream that flows through our farm.
Winter has not finished with us yet.
Yes, there's too much shoveling...frozen pipes are more than an annoyance...
we slip and slide as we go to the places we must...
And we have a hard time remembering when our hands were truly warm...
but each day, warm or cold, offer gifts we should never ignore.
Happy Winter!
