From the Fields of Vision...Photography
Winter Scenes 2014-3
February 5-2014

I have been so fortunate to have had wonderful light this winter.
Frigid days with crystal blue skies have provided great photo opportunities.

Not far from Bremen is this beautiful round barn.
It draws me back time and again.

In the late sixties dad considered buying a disc-plow.
It would have been green but made by the same
company as this rare specimen.

On a cold windy Sunday afternoon, I took my new camera in search of images.  I went to a country church, north of Woodland, IN, St John's UCC.  A place I knew afternoon light would play well.  Among the photos I took then was the bench outside the front door.

Perhaps it comes from my history, but I love these "round roof" barns.
I often go in search of examples like these in southern St. Joseph County.

Surely this plane is filled with those seeking a warmer local.

Returning from writer's workshop last month I stopped to photograph this church.
The Plymouth Church of the Brethren, in the snow, is lit up at night.
Surely a symbol of God's presence in our world.

There is a great deal of beautiful wood work in the Union Building at Purdue University.

Once all corn was cribbed.  Corn cribs took many different sizes and forms.  Among the latest cribs was this Behlen steep roof model.  They were well built and easy to fill.

Even barns had parts that were not built solely for function.
Consider how much extra work a diagonal window required.

It was just above zero when I stopped along a country road.
The wind blew strong but that did not stop the cattle from wandering outdoors.

The winter reminds me of years past...cold and snowy.
Don't let the cold keep you from seeing the wonders that are all around.
You don't have to drive hundreds of miles to see something special!

Until next time.
